James Geer, VMD

Dr. Geer is a Connecticut native who founded the Colchester Veterinary Hospital in 1974. He attended undergraduate school at the University of Connecticut and graduated from The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1972. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. He lives with his wife, Jeanne, in Hebron along with a Boxer, a Boston Terrier, many cats, and 2 horses. Dr. Geer's interests include woodworking, sailing and organic farming.

 
 

Robert McLaughlin, DVM

Dr. McLaughlin received his Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut in 1984. His D.V.M. degree was earned at Oklahoma State University in 1989, the same year he joined the staff at Colchester Veterinary Hospital. Dr. McLaughlin's wife, Elizabeth, is a Special Education teacher. They have two daughters, Kimberly and Julie. Corey, a male Irish Setter, and Casey, a Domestic Short Hair cat, round out Dr. McLaughlin's household. Dr. McLaughlin enjoys outdoor sports and is an avid runner. He also takes great pleasure in hiking and skiing.

 
 

Michael Berard, DVM

Dr. Berard is a 1991 graduate of the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Animal Science at the University of Connecticut.  Dr. Berard is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association.  He resides in Colchester with his wife, Brenda, and children, Stephanie, Zachary, and Olivia. Dr. Berard's special interests are chemotherapy and heartworm disease.  His hobbies are baseball, carpentry, farming, and John Deere Tractors.
 

Betsey Borg, DVM

Dr. Borg received her B.S. degree in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island.  She attended the University of Connecticut for 1 year pursuing a Master's Degree in Reproductive Physiology.  She then went on to graduate from the Charter Class of the Tufts Veterinary Medical School.  She lives on a small farm in East Haddam with her husband, Douglas, numerous horses, sheep, chickens, rabbits, cats, and a Border Collie named Gus.
 

Jonathan Walker, DVM

Dr. Walker is a 2006 graduate of Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he earned his B.S. Degree in Biology.  Dr. Walker is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, and the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association.  Dr. Walker is a Massachusetts native who joined the staff of Colchester Veterinary Hospital in 2006. He currently lives in Lebanon with his wife, Kate, their new-born baby girl, Piper, and their dog, Steve, and three cats, Boo, Pete, and Frank.  Dr. Walker's hobbies include building computers, homebrewing beer, and Texas-Style Barbecuing.
 

Sara Caruso, VMD

Dr. Caruso grew-up outside of Boston and received her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology from Haverford College, located outside Philadelphia, in 2002. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, and then returned to New England to join the staff of Colchester Veterinary Hospital.  She and her husband, John, and daughter, Julia, live in Glastonbury along with their three cats, Toby, Parker, and Reggie.  In her spare time, Dr. Caruso enjoys gardening, running, and playing tennis.
 
 
Jennifer Gustafson, DVM

Dr. Gustafson grew-up in San Diego, California, where she received her B.S. degree in Biology with an emphasis on Zoology at San Diego State University in 2005.  She graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, and then moved to New England to join the staff at Colchester Veterinary Hospital.  Dr. Gustafson has an interest in internal medicine and is currently living in Rocky Hill with her loving husband and beautiful cat, Zoie.  In her spare time she enjoys hiking, reading, wildlife photography, and bird-watching.
 
 
Ryan Ehlinger, DVM

Dr. Ehlinger received his DVM from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.  His Veterinary interests include small animal surgery, orthopedics, ophthamology, and internal medicine.  Dr. Ehlinger lives in Stafford with his wife, Courtney, daughter Olivia, and his three cats, Mama, Sammy, and Bobby.  When he is away from the hospital Dr. Ehlinger enjoys playing in the great outdoors and listening to live music.
 
 

Alice Mayer, DVM

Dr. Mayer grew-up on Long Island and received her undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University. Following graduation, she worked in several laboratory settings involved with cell culture and immunology. She then attended Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After receiving her D.V.M. degree, Dr. Mayer returned to New York and worked full time in small animal practice. She currently enjoys working part-time at Colchester Veterinary Hospital. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, who is a retired veterinarian.
 
 

Heidi Seaton, DVM

Dr. Seaton is a University of Connecticut alumna (Go Huskies!), graduating with a B.S. degree in Pathobiology in 1988. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!), earning her D.V.M. degree in 1992.  She is also accredited in veterinary acupuncture and human therapeutic massage. Her hobbies include reading, camping, rock climbing, and long-distance cycling.  Her cycling includes a yearly 150-mile bicycle tour to raise awareness and money towards finding a cure for Mutliple Sclerosis. She enjoys small animal medicine and being part of the family at Colchester Veterinary Hospital.
